Mrs. Levine vs. The Egg Factory

1950s Baby

I promised my husband that a) now that we’ve had the talk about babies and timing I will relax and b) I will ignore any sources that try to freak me out about it. But …

Women who want to have children should make it a priority in their twenties to find a partner. That’s because one of the most dramatic issues facing Generation X is infertility. No generation of women has had more trouble with fertility than this generation, who received the terrible baby boomer advice, “Wait. You have time. Focus on your career first.”

- Penelope Trunk in the article Want to Have a Baby? Now’s the Time

The only upside is that this article is confirming what I’ve been hearing for years, that having babies before age 35 is perfectly fine. So, Media, stop trying to tell me I’m old with shrivelled eggs. La La La La La La (fingers in ears). I’M NOT LISTENING!

Secret Thirty, Revealed. Mr. Levine and I decided to stop talking about babies until I’m thirty-three then think about having babies when I’m thirty-four. We also decided that if we only have one, that’s cool with us. So … hopefully no more (frantic, obsessive, not productive) baby talk in the future from me. We’ll see.
